Listening with empathy is a frequent topic in our ongoing training for Community Connectors. Empathy can be a surprisingly difficult skill to develop, so we're always on the lookout for helpful resources.
This week we've expanded the Empathy section of our Resource list to include an article about empathy and leaders. Why do people in leadership roles often struggle to listen with empathy? Once they become aware of their shortcomings, what can they do to improve? Dr Christine Riordan, the first female President of Adelphi University, has some very practical suggestions for leaders – or anyone else, for that matter – who would like to hone their skills in this essential aspect of communication.
If you'd like to read our article about this, go to the Resources section of our website, select Empathy and then Leadership and Empathy.
